I-gram w/ @LizaLacroix: Studio Visits, Gallery Hopping, and a trip to D.C.
Every now and then Cultbytes invites a guest to post on our Instagram account, the enigmatic painter and elusive gallerist Liza Lacroix took over the account one week in December.
The Canadian native based in New York is somewhat of a Renaissance woman. In addition to painting, Lacroix is the co-founder of MAW, the hottest new artist-run gallery in Chinatown. MAW has an exciting program presenting emerging artists. The founders are interested in exhibition design and use their space to experiment with placement and spatiality, reason enough to stop by and check it out. Lacroix has a big heart and sense of community, she recently joined a dog-sitting program for rescue dogs and organizes drives to make care packages for the homeless at the gallery. Lacroix is also, together with the artist Alli Melanson, working on an artist book where all proceeds raised will benefit a local women’s shelter. The book will be launched this summer in conjunction with a group show at MAW. Her studio is in Brooklyn.
