FIVE: The Musical, a parody musical, offers a bold and satirical take on the current U.S. political landscape. using five influential women connected to Donald Trump to deliver sharp humor and poignant commentary. Amidst the chaos of contemporary politics and Trump’s various court cases ranging from allegations of fraud and hush money payments to election subversion, the talented actresses shine, navigating through a script brimming with witty lines and daring gestures that both entertain and provoke.

The off-broadway production, staged at 555 West 42nd Street, cleverly imagines the hypothetical scenario of the leading man, the 45th president, confronting these women on stage, each representing a distinct facet of his personal and political life. From his two ex-wives Ivana and Marla Maples to his current wife and first lady Melania and his daughter Ivanka to the scandalous Stormy Daniels the characters deliver cutting dialogue that reframes their relationships with him, eschewing admiration for biting criticism and dark humor.

As the plot unfolds, the tension rises, culminating in an uproarious showdown between the women vying to claim the title of who had it the worst with the president. Yet, just as the audience settles into the uproar, a surprise appearance by a drag Queen Hillary Clinton injects a new layer of humor and irony, offering a playful nod to the political rivalries that continue to captivate the public imagination.

Written with sharp wit by Shimmy Braun & Moshiel Newman Daphna, and complemented by the captivating music and lyrics of Billy Recce, the production provides a platform for the six energetic actresses—Anyae Anasia, Gabi García, Gabriella Joy Rodriguez, Jamie Lyn Beatty, Hannah Bonnet, and Jasmine Rice Labeija—to showcase their talents and command the spotlight.

Despite the show’s provocative nature, it has resonated with audiences, evident in its extended run due to popular demand until April 21st. However, it’s noteworthy that despite invitations extended to the real-life figures portrayed, none have made an appearance thus far—a testament, perhaps, to the divisive nature of the satire and the complexities of modern politics.

In its boldness and irreverence, FIVE: The Musical confronts the absurdities of power dynamics and celebrity culture, offering audiences a chance to laugh, reflect, and engage with the tumultuous times we live in.
